SKY CASTLE (2018)

The second highest rated drama on Korean cable television history, Sky Castle deals with the materialistic desires of the upper class of the Korean society. However don't let its housewifey poster deceive you, Sky Castle has layers hidden inside its deep plot. Despite being a drama from 2018, it still holds relevance in today's time and will continue to do so.

A satirical drama at its core, it revolves around corrupt business practices to monopoly to 'tiger parenting' environments. It highlights the pressure a student faces to live up to his or her family name and compete in this highly brutal academic world.

Sky Castle deals with what is important to a person, money, education or his well being? A look into traditional Asian households its complex web of relationships makes it thrilling and keeps you on the edge of your seat every episode. The drama displays the issues that can arise through punishment especially, as opposed to positive reinforcement.

Combined with an awesome OST track, along with a cast that draws you into the episode, the drama makes you live with characters, cry at their problems, laugh at their happy moments and become frustrated at the injustice delivered to them. This drama makes you question your morals and that is something very hard to deliver through a screen.
